We are in the process of planing our spring meet for May 10th. But we would like to have help finding a location more to the eastern side of the state. So if anyone knows of a place that we can all hang out, grill some hot dogs and burgers please let me know. Hopefully this will allow some of our eastern Iowa members to attend. I hope to get everything set in stone in the next couple weeks. Thanks!

There are a couple good options in my neck of the woods. Hickory Hills Park outside La Porte City is really nice. Has a lake and plenty of space. Another option would be Backbone State Park near Strawberry point. That would be a good option if people wanted to cruise the area. Pretty decent roads. A usual route of mine starts in Strawberry Point and goes to Balltown. Sweet photo opportunities out there, too. Could be a long day for some people, though. Thoughts?

I'm actually busy that weekend, but here's an idea.... Sunday, May 18th there is an Autocross at Hawkeye Downs in Cedar Rapids. It's on the racetrack and they open up the inner road to it. Pretty sweet course, and would make a great excuse for a club meet too! A chance to maybe get some ride-alongs in members' cars and see what's all out there. Thoughts?

Yeah, so it's an oval track that has some bank to it if I remember. And you go into the middle part too, so it's kinda shaped like a kidney bean? But with cones everywhere? I'll try to pull up a video from someone last year.

I'll be there at 8:30 because I'm helping with Tech inspection, but the driver's meeting is at 10:15. I would shoot to get there around 9:00-9:30 so you have time to walk the course and chat with peeps. Otherwise if you're not racing, just come whenever, it will go into the afternoon. Racing starts around 11 or something like that. |
