Hey guys, new here. Referred by my buddy who is also on here, 240ryan. Just looking to chill with some likeminded people who are also car enthusiasts. Here's my contribution to the forum. It's not much and it's still mostly stock, but here is my 2004 Maxima.

Lol it's good to be here finally, Ryan. Idk why I put it off for so long haha.
So far, just visual stuff for the most part. I last I dipped the grille, the chrome roof trim, and all the badges/emblems and I lowered it on Progress sport springs, 1.75 inches in the front and .5 in the back. New exhaust, wheels and a CAI are in the works once I get the money for it all.

I drive a G35 sedan and I will be at the event.
Not sure if you have seen it but we are doing a last minute order to club t-shirts. Do you want one? They are $10 each

Also I'm interested in one of the NICI stickers, too.
You bringing the G to the event then too?

Welcome Kaleb! Where are you located? The Maxima has been a favorite car of mine for a long time and they've come a long way since the 90's!

Hey Robert, I'm in Urbandale. What about you?
A friend of mine owned a 2002 Maxima and I loved it, so when I was searching for a new car of my own and ran across an 04 I knew I had to have it! Haven't regretted buying it since. Do you own a Maxima, too?

Hello Kaleb, I live in Cedar Rapids/Marion area. It seems like most of the guys from the club live in Des Moines. I don't own a Maxima but years ago I was saving to buy one. However, my car at the time had serious engine problems, so I took the $400 I had saved and bought a new 1997 Nissan truck. That was the last year before the Frontier came out. I was dissapointed I couldn't get a Maxima, but it's been a very reliable truck and I still own it! Last year I bought a 1971 240Z to restore so that's my new project. The other cars we own are a 2009 Corolla and 2006 4Runner. I'm glad you were able to get a nice car that you love! Robert S.

It's too bad you never got to get a Maxima, Robert. The 4th and 5th gens are awesome.
What are your plans with the Z car? I'm a huge fan of old Datsuns since my aunt has a 70-something 260z.

Kaleb, I agree the Maxima has come a long way since the 90's! I liked the early 90's style, so when the new body style came out in 94/95, I really wanted one. I went to the dealership to get brochures and even got a VHS video from Nissan! As the Maxima's were redesigned, they increased in HP and became more refined. That also meant they increased in price. Who knows, maybe one day when I buy another car it will be a Maxima. I just paid off my Corolla this month, so that means I won't be getting a new car for many years! I've met a lot of people who either owned a Datsun or the know someone that did. In the American market, the 260Z was sold in 1974 and in 1975 it switched over to the 280Z. Your aunt's 260Z is probably from 1974, unless it was imported. The 260Z was still produced after 1974 for other markets. Anyway, I will be doing a full restoration on my 240Z and plan to keep it as original as possible. Sometime this summer/fall I'll be dismantling the car and labeling all of the parts. Then I can start the rust repair and body work. I figure it will take at least 5 years to complete! Hope you have a good week! Robert S.

You can find a nice used 6th gen Max for less than 10 grand! On cars.com there's a few 6MT's with less than 100k miles for a good price. I wish I had gotten the manual instead lol.
Good luck with your rebuild, Robert. There was a really sick v8 swapped Z car at a Cottonwood meet a couple months back.
Anyway, are you going to the NICI meet on Saturday?

Kaleb,
I won't be able to attend the meet on Saturday because I still have too much to get done at home. There was a 240Z in Branson last weekend with a V8 swap. Personally I prefer to keep the old Z's mostly original, but it was a nice car. I hope you have a good time this weekend!

Well damn! Too bad you won't be able to make it. Hopefully soon, you'll be able to join everyone at a meet. Speaking of which, who all plans on being at Greenwood this Saturday?
Also, I saw a pretty badass 90's 300zx near the Target on Plum Drive. Yellow with black wheels. That belong to anyone here?

As far as I know, no it doesn't. And check out the greenwood thread I believe about 5 or more of us may be going! Are you going to be able to make it?
And I second the motion that Robert should go to this meet so we can all meet him in person!!!

Lol I was so tempted to go up to the driver of the 300zx and invite them to NICI and to the Greenwood event. Yeah I was able to swing it with my work schedule. I'll have to leave a bit early but will be there for the majority of the day. Can't wait for this meet- should be a ton of fun! Hopefully the turnout from NICI will be respectable.

Thanks Jason, I appreciate it!
As for the Z, I only grabbed that one quick pic.
She's owned it for 18 years or so now. It's completely rust free, just needs new paint.
The 350 in it is unfortunately one put of one of the Barbie Vettes of the 80's so it's choked so much to meet emissions standards like many other cars from that time period, so it's not exactly powerful engine. She hopes to one day find a better Vette motor and stick it under the hood but for now this works. She didn't get a chance to drive it for me since it isn't insured at the moment.
She recently had a baby (2 weeks ago) so I'm sure this car will be sitting for a long time to come.
It's cool though, she's done all the work to this car herself. Her brother (my dad) is a mechanic so I guess it runs in the family.
Anyway for what it's worth, the car sounded badass and still looked like a ton of fun to drive.

Kaleb,
Looks like you had a good trip to Colorado! I really like the photo with the rocks in the background. Of course I like the photo of your aunt's 260Z! Judging from the back bumper, this is an early 260Z with the smaller bumpers, which are similar to the 240Z, except the 260Z had bumper shocks. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks a lot you guys! It was a very nice trip- lots of scenic driving and seeing my family, two of my favorite things.
I think the Z is an earlier 70's model- I think she said 74 but I could be mistaken. Would that make it an earlier model? She said their run was sort of short-lived and that, for the most part, the 260z was kind of an "oops" before Datsun really got it right with the 280z. I'm glad you like it, Robert!
Thanks for the compliment, Luke. I'm still new to photography so I'm just taking a lot of pics and hoping one or two turn out alright lol.

Kaleb, You're correct the 260Z, here in the states anyway, was a 1974 model car. When the production of the 240Z ended in late 1973, production for the 260Z started. The early 260Z had some of the same characteristics of the '73 240Z and the '75 280Z. The larger L26 engine used the same flat top SU carbs from the '73 and most people didn't like them, so they often swapped out for round top carbs or Webers. The bumpers on the early 260Z resembled the '73 240Z, except they had bumper shocks for both the front and back. The interior of the car though was similar to the early 280Z, such as the dash, center console, heater control panel, steering wheel, and door panels. The late model 260Z had larger bumpers like the 280Z, but the fuel injection wasn't added until the '75 280Z. Here in the states the 260Z was only sold in 1974, but they went on a few more years in the foreign markets. So yes, the 260Z wasn't a very desirable car because of the engine/carb combination. I like to think of it as Nissan was just using up extra parts laying around. Now whether Nissan got it right with the 280Z or the 240Z will always be a debate among Z owners. Robert S.

Hey, thanks for the information, Robert, that's some cool stuff.
I plan to buy some wheels in the future and I was looking for some help from you guys. I really want a set of XXR 530s. They come in black, chromium black, gold and hyper silver. I really want a 19 inch hyper silver wheel but they only offer the color in 18. I think 18 would be too small (it's what the OEM size is).
Long story short, I am looking for a set of wheels with similar spokes that has a concave look to it. Something pretty aggressive looking. Offset is key as well but I'd like to find the right style and go from there.
The only other one I found was the Concept One C 8, but once again 18 is the largest size available.
Any recommendations? Also, how do you think the black XXR 530s would look on my beige car? Yea or nay?
Thanks in advance, you guys.

Personally I am not a fan of black wheels only because of the lack of contrast in the appearance.
I did some checking on the 530's also since its a wheel I wanted for the G but I was told they don't make them yet even though they show them on their website. What is your OEM wheel size on the max?
